Quote: “In order to be wealthy, you must be healthy”
Can you be fit and Fat?
Yes, you can! It is your fitness more than your fatness that determines heart diseases! Consistently worrying about those last few pounds can sometimes be very discouraging. Anybody who exercises and eats healthy knows it does not necessarily come easy, or at least, as easy as the often infomercial advertisers of diet pills or gadgets portray it to be. Fatness is not always a major risk factor for coronary disease. A study performed at the cooper institute in Dallas Texas studied 21,000 men and found that fitness warranted a less chance for heart disease than fatness when comparing the two.
- “Cardiovascular fit, fat men had a risk of death which was about half that of unfit, lean men of comparable age.”
- “Lean, unfit men had about three times the risk of suffering from heart disease than fit, lean men. Here lean men were defined as those with body fat below 16.7%”
- “Leanness at any level offered very little protection against cardiac disease”
- “Being fat and unfit increased one’s death risk by 33%”
It is always nice aesthetically and psychologically reassuring to be able to achieve a desired body weight. But remember, there is still hope for your health if those last few pounds are becoming harder to lose.
